My Story
I am Lisa Davidsson, I’m a psychologist from Sweden turned hypnotherapist. This is my story of how and why I left a prosperous career as a psychologist and business owner in Sweden to move to Bali and build a retreat center and from there find the world of hypnotherapy.
As a psychologist in Sweden I come from a science heavy western training in psychology and mental health practices. I have years of experience working with children and adolescents through the social system in Sweden. It’s a very strict ground of practice, as it should be. Hence, I know every psychological theory there is, each diagnostic criteria front to back, and every do and don’t in the realm of therapy. …and I still felt it wasn’t enough to properly help people. My Values & Beliefs
Everyone Can Heal
I believe nothing is beyond healing. If we look at mental health not from the lense of “what is wrong with me”, but through the lense of “what happened to me”, we open ourselves up to change. Through hypnotherapy we can alter the impact of what happened. Shifting the focus from “I am ill” to “how do I heal”.
Trauma is more than dramatic impact
Trauma from the perspective of hypnotherapy is any time our nervous system was overwhelmed and we couldn’t emotionally and mentally process what is happening. As babies and children the bar for this is much lower than when we are adult. Hence things you don’t believe is a trauma might have had traumatic effects on you growing up.
Our nervous system plays a big role in healing
Love, care and attention are just as important for our survival as food and shelter is. Being deprived or unreliably given these things growing up will have put your nercous system in distress. Learning to self regulte our nervous system in moments when we are triggered will further the healing process.
My Approach
Whenever I meet a new client we will spend the first part of our session going through your history. Knowing how you grew up and how negative emotions were met in your family will give us a good basic understanding of the patterns and believes that are underlying your struggles.
I will also enquire about previous therapy and what you have learnt so far. What has worked for you and what hasn’t. I want to build on the work you have already done and not reinvent the wheel.
From this extensive background information we will approach your current struggles and areas where you want to change. For any issue you have it’s about understanding the emotion that is connected to it. We then use that emotion to find the root cause during the hypnosis part of the session.
